Making An International Call

International dialing codes are split in to 3 parts; IDD Prefix, Country Code and NDD Prefix.

The IDD Prefix is the international dialing code part used to dial out to a foreign country. It tells the telephone network it is making an international call. For a single country the IDD Prefix is the same no matter which foreign Country Code is dialed.

The Country Code follows the IDD Prefix. It identifies the foreign country to connect to.

The NDD Prefix is used when dialing a national number. This is removed when dialing a foreign country. The City Code or Area Code follows the NDD Prefix but the Ndd Prefix and Area Codes are usually displayed together.

The process of making international calls is made more complicated when you move from one country to another. You could quite easily remember New Zealand's Country Code for example but when you move to a different country yourself the international dialing code is going to change.

Some countries have special relationships with each other allowing cheap international calls via a certain number. For example Moldova's Country Code is 373 and Romania's Ndd Prefix is 00 (at the time of writing). A call could therefore be made from Romania to Moldova by dialing 00 plus 373 plus the number. However it is much cheaper to dial 022 due to a special relationship the two countries have arranged.

Another factor is do you know what time it is in the foreign country. You need to make sure you are not going wake anyone up in the middle of the night due to world time zone differences.

TimeDial.net is a website that can help this process. All you need to do is select your destination location from a dropdown box and it displays the world time, international dialing code, area code and currency converter almost anywhere. Your current location is detected from IP address lookup and it remembers your destination selection for future visits. Time Dial is the most comprehensive, accurate and simple to use site of its kind.

Lower Your Total Cost of Ownership With Virtual Office VoIP While Adding Flexibility

Virtual Office Voice over IP (VoIP) hosted PBX service, is a small business phone system alternative that allows small business to medium-sized businesses (SMB) anywhere in the world to employ an unlimited number of extension options and enjoy geographic independence and flexibility. Depending on the provider, the plans can include unlimited extensions, metered extensions or virtual extensions. Some providers can offer feature-rich telephone and options that can include a unique direct inbound dial (DID) telephone number for every extension for staff located in the same building or spread around the world.

VoIP hosted PBX service lowers most small business total cost of ownership (TCO) for phone services. These hosted PBX services cuts the typical private branch exchange (PBX) system start up costs up to 90% through the delivery of a virtual PBX while reducing monthly phone bills by as much as 50% if not more.

These special PBX services are designed with simple self-service tools for complete system and extension control. For organizations that require a full-service configuration, these features are included in some virtual PBX services for the same price.

In addition to enjoying benefits from the Virtual Office Voice over IP (VoIP) hosted PBX service solution such as unlimited calls to the United States and Canada for a low, flat monthly fee, companies subscribing to a hosted PBX service can eliminate the overhead cost associated with brick and mortar buildings with the use of this system by operating out of different locations without losing any powerful PBX functionality or having to pay premium local and long distance charges for inter-office calling.

There is one very impressive VoIP hosted PBX service that I am impressed with. This provider's service provides Unlimited Calling, Auto-Attendant, Full Featured Conference Bridge, and Business-class Voicemail. The most impressive of all the features of this particular service are the following:

Administrative Controls:

- This particular service includes an administration web portal for all PBX, auto-attendant, ring groups and complete extension control

- Extension Manager allowing users the ability to control all extension settings including busy, ring-no-answer, and Internet outage handling ring duration and forwarding destinations. Other settings in Extension Manager including forwarding rules, one number access, caller ID blocking, call waiting disable and other unique settings.

- Switchboard is a great live answer application that runs on a PC and works in conjunction with the Virtual Office phone to assist operators and secretaries in seeing extension status indicators and provide quick and accurate call answering and distribution controls.

Virtual Attendant:

This particular Virtual Office Voice over IP hosted PBX service with it is a powerful, automated call routing solution that allows businesses to connect wired, mobile, home phones and other Virtual Office extensions, regardless of geographic location, under a single primary phone number. Virtual Attendant can be used as either an independent service or in conjunction with an accompanying Virtual Office Service Plan. This service provides more features than I can list in this article. This though should be enough to get you started on the road to PBX solutions.

VoIP Providers - Small Players Delivering Big Solutions

Some distinct trends are emerging in the VoIP telephony domain. For one, the popularity of VoIP services is growing incessantly in different parts of the globe. Secondly, regional VoIP providers with their cost effective telephony services are emerging as a distinct force. Many of the VoIP providers are "small" and are catering to the demands in regional markets. In addition, all the newly emerging VoIP providers are harnessing innovative technology to deliver cheaper voice and broadband services to their customers.

More often than not, the VoIP service providers are 'small' companies catering to both corporate as well as individual users. Backstage communication network support is delivered by large telecom operators. In some parts of the world, VoIP services are more popular than in other parts. For instance, in regions of Europe and America, long distance voice services are more often than not delivered as VoIP services.

This supply end activity is obviously backed by a strong demand. For one, the base of VoIP subscribers is growing day the day. According to the results of a market research, global VoIP subscribers have increased by 34 million in 2006.

And one does not have to go far to identify the reasons for this trend. Many of the service providers of VoIP are using the competitive advantage in their respective geographical markets to deliver great value to the end customers. Consequently, the traditional telephone services are gradually giving way to innovative VoIP solutions and services. High long distance calling rates are a thing of the past. So, whether it is broadband VoIP or PC to voice service delivered through soft switching systems on the Internet - the VoIP service providers are doing all that it takes to satiate varied customer needs.

Calling Cards Help You Save Money

Throughout our life we communicate. Communication and how active we do it often influences our success in business. For those who communicate a lot, especially worldwide, calling cards have become one very convenient opportunity. One can use calling cards to make cheaper local and international calls and save a considerable amount of money in the long run.

Moreover, Canada calling cards allow you to make the phone call you need wherever you are. It is very useful if you travel a lot and it is not convenient to use your mobile phone to make a call. Make sure you have a calling card in your wallet when packing for the next trip.

Let us give you a clear example. Imagine you are in some country for the first time in your life. You don't know the language neither you can call from you mobile phone (international roaming does not function properly or your mobile phone is simply broken). And you need to call your family and say you're OK. Calling from your hotel? Any phone booth? Possible. But just imagine what it will cost you. And if you have that magic piece of plastic named a calling card, there are now problems for you. Just follow the instructions and here you are making an affordable international call.

You can use your calling car from any place that has an ordinary telephone. It is possible to purchase calling cards that give you from 100 to 1.000 minutes of international calls. And the amount of money you save when talking 1.000 minutes at a considerably lower rate is really huge. Now calling you international friends and your family when you are abroad is easy, cheap and convenient. Just take your calling card out of your pocket and communicate!

Canada calling cards are a cheap and convenient alternative for long distance international calls, interstate calls and even local calls. In some areas local calls during the business time are extremely expensive and sometimes are even comparable to the international rates. Calling cards providers do offer the solution and you should definitely consider using it if your local calling rates are high.

It is possible to buy calling cards online these days. When you buy a calling card online, you are instantly given a PIN, which you should use when activating the service. Some most advanced services offer permanent PINs and even rechargeable calling cards, so that you don’t need to make a new purchase every time. The procedure of using a calling card is usually very convenient and understandable even for the most inexperienced users.

Calling cards allow people to save money and plan their local and international calls monthly budget which is very convenient and cost-effective for both companies and standalone consumers.

Selling Prepaid Calling Cards - How Lucrative Is It?

A lot of individuals today wish they could start their own businesses. Selling prepaid Calling Cards would make a nice start to a viable business proposition. Getting into this business should be quite easy and could convert your dreams into reality. However, there is a very wide gap between truth and fiction. Your goals, whatever the may be, can only be achieved with meticulous planning.

As a home-based, online or standard entrepreneur, you will need to have a plan to avoid pitfalls, to achieve your goals, and to establish a profitable business venture. As a phone card seller, you need to create a viable business plan to avoid stumbling blocks, achieve your goals, and build a profitable home business, such as selling prepaid phone cards.

Find Out What Services Your Distributor Would Offer

Before you start selling, it's important to inquire from your service provider if they provide customizable business management, or web-based platforms to the wholesale agents, where you could:

- Set your own rates for their customers.

- Create different rate plans with different billing increments (rounding to seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute etc.), impose connection and disconnection charges, monthly fees and other parameters. Check if billing can be done in a local currency.

- Credit and charge amounts to/from accounts

- Configure postpaid or prepaid billing types for the customers

- View the billing and errors for each account

- Configure speed dial numbers or services for the customers

- Generate pin codes for calling cards

The Mechanism Of Prepaid Phone Cards

Prospective retailers should have a wider grasp of the business they are going into. They should know that prepaid phone cards come in different dollar denominations, or face values, which are often between $5, $10 or $25 per card. They may also be packaged in minutes, such as 30, 60, or 90 minutes per card.

The cards available often charge different per-minute rates. Before you sell cards, ask your distributor the details about how many minutes of calling time in the cards. With some cards, when you buy more minutes, you get a better per-minute price. Instead of minutes, some operators indicate how many "units" are on the card.

A unit equals one minute calling time for calls placed within the continental United States. On calls from territories like Puerto Rico and Guam and to other countries, you may be charged more than one unit for every minute you are on the phone. Knowing these details helps in properly informing the buying public about the characteristics of prepaid call cards.

Calling Cards Use VoIP Technology

The main reason why calling cards are able offer very affordable rates to call local or overseas is because of the unique technology used. Service providers selling phone cards use a combination of VoIP (Voice over IP) and regular lines to get a fairly good balance between call quality and low prices. In addition, since the cards are pre-paid, which means you pay in advance for the specified talk time, other charges are reduced, like the ones for collection charges or debt retrieval.

Phone Cards, The Pros And The Cons

Even since before the widespread use of mobile telephones, people have been able to bring a solution to their telecommunications needs with them almost anywhere they traveled in the form of telephone cards. Telephone cards provide a convenient structure for people to contact business associates, family, and friends from any phone in the world at a flat or variable rate. There are a myriad of phone cards available for this market ranging from revolving telephone credit lines to pre-paid cards. All have their pros and drawbacks. Additionally, cards can offer various rates as well as rates that increase and decrease due to calls placed during peak hours or on weekdays.

Military members have been one of the most sought-after demographics for telephone card companies because of their deployment schedules and long stays away from friends, family, spouses, and children. Any convenience store that is near a United States post, base, or station will typically have all sorts of pre-paid calling phone cards available for purchase. However, what many service members fail to realize is that these cards often charge a flat charge just for connection alone. This charge can cost up to several dollars just for the privilege of completing the connection, so if a military person makes a long distance call to his mother from across the world, he or she can expect to pay anywhere from $.25 to $5.00 for the privilege of talking to her answering machine for thirty seconds.

The per-minute charges of telephone calling cards can vary widely as well and the fine print that details these calling card charges is often so fine that the companies decline to print it on the card or the associated documentation. Many calling card companies explain their fee structure on a form that is only available by mail order, which will be sent at the company’s convenience. But when someone wants to make phone calls on a card that they have already bought, the last thing that they want to do is mail a self-addressed stamped envelope away for the company to send them a copy of their total fee structure. It is because of this practice that next to no one actually knows when they are charged for what fees.

Revolving credit phone cards are a popular way to keep an ongoing account with a telephone card company. Used much like that of a credit card, revolving credit phone cards issues the card holder a certain limit, dollar-wise, of credit that they are able to use to call with. The card holder is issued a bill to pay once a month. While many times card holders of these kinds of accounts will get access to phone rates that are unavailable on prepaid calling cards, they are also susceptible to overage charges, monthly maintenance fees, and large, surprise telephone bills. While prepaid phone cards may run out of minutes, leaving a conversation unfinished, a revolving credit phone card can bring about surprisingly high phone bills that you may have not expected.

Phone cards are far from perfect. When taken into consideration their potentially high rates, confusing fee structures, and sometimes unreliable service, they are hardly a reliable and affordable means of keeping the lines of communication open. However, for the world traveler or military member with few, if any, other choices available phone cards effectively serve their purpose in allowing at least some affordable communication with home.

Airport Calling Card Vending Machines

If you are without a cellular phone or are somewhere with bad reception, you may find yourself in a state of panic when you suddenly realize that you need to call your home or office, especially if you travel a great deal for your business. You are in an airport and you are desperate, and you don't know where to turn. Then you see it, the airport calling card vending machine. You race over to find that you get limited amount of minutes for a very expensive price. You grasp the fact that you don't have any other choice and without hesitation you slip your money in the slot and get your calling card. After possibly a few short minutes on the payphone you start to think that there has got to be a better way to buy a calling card then spending your hard earned money at the airport calling card vending machine.

Phone card vending machines are overpriced and inconvenient. They may not have the minutes available that you need, and most of them cost you a fortune to buy even the fewest minutes available. The worse case scenario is that they could be out of them completely when you need to make a phone call the most. That is why you should consider buying online voip phone cards before you even leave for your trip. You can sit in the comfort of your own home and find them in the denominations that you need, buying even more minutes for a lower price. Searching around for online phone cards can yield you higher benefits by costing you less money and you can take the time to find the best deal, instead of being forced to use the airport calling card vending machines. You can also use the online phone cards to make international phone calls, whereas phone card vending machines may not have this option available. If you are delayed in an international airport far away from home then you need to have that alternative to make you feel more secure in knowing you can reach someone by phone.

There is also the advantage of being able to recharge the online phone card when you come back from a trip, in order to get ready for the next time you leave. There is no wondering if you can find a phone card vending machine where you are. You know exactly how many minutes you have, where you can call, and you have the security of knowing that in case of emergency you will be able to call where you want, when you want to. When it comes to down to it, online phone cards save you money as compared to phone card vending machines, but it just isn't the money. It is the convenience of knowing you won't have to find an airport calling card vending machine and hope that it comes in the denomination that you need to call the people that need to hear from you the most.
